Tarha McKenzie
Festival Distribution
Tarha has been an independent contractor since 2011, focusing on Programme and Distribution Management. Her career highlights include managing Africa’s premiere documentary festival, Encounters. She helped create a pipeline for African content at Big World Cinema, coordinated the Black Women Disrupt web series competition, and managed the catalogue for TechRow – a New York based immersive educational start-up. Tarha assisted in building distribution strategies at Electric South, and is the Programme Manager for their annual AR/VR labs. Tarha is currently Programme Managing for the Doc Society supported Climate Story Lab ZA, and is the “Mother City” Distribution Manager.

His profound engagement with music began in his youth, nurturing a deep-seated enchantment with its transformative power. This early fascination guided him through rigorous classical training in music theory and piano. As a teenager, his burgeoning interest in cinema led him to a profound appreciation for film scores, igniting a passion that would shape his career. After pursuing advanced studies in film and film scoring, he established his own post production studio in Cape Town, South Africa. There, he has devoted himself to the craft of film composition and music production, contributing to a diverse array of esteemed films, documentaries, television series, and commercials
